Research work in the Reserve
Kamyanka State Historical and Cultural Reserve is a research and cultural-educational institution that studies and promotes historical and cultural monuments, natural wonders, and provides the efforts on their protection and rational use. In the field of research the Reserve works in the following areas:
- studies the historical, cultural, and natural background of the Middle Dnieper region, explores the historical, cultural and natural monuments located within the Reserve’s territory of, as well as their historical environment;
- discovers and studies local lore materials in scientific libraries, archives, museums, public and private collections;

- carry out research in the field of history, archaeology, ethnography, and other research in order to implement the efforts to revive and develop material and spiritual culture of the inhabitants of the Middle Dnieper region.
- carries out natural monitoring on the Reserve’s territory;
- develops the measures to stabilize and improve the environmental situation within the Reserve and its protected areas;
- investigates the recreational potential of the Middle Dnieper region, develops proposals how arrange these areas for recreation purpose;
- Based on the researches of profile scientific establishments, the Reserve develops the detailed scientific concept of expositions of museums, perspective, and current plans of museification of monuments, and making thematic and exposition plans and projects for the architectural and art decisions to conduct expositions, exhibitions, and defines forms, methods, and the contents of research work;
- participates in the organization and holding of scientific conferences, seminars, workshops, and scientific readings;
As a result of research work in the Reserve in the field of history, archaeology, ethnography, natural sciences, monuments are scientific works, articles, theses, reports, etc., as well as scientific developments of purely internal activities in the Reserve – thematic and exhibition plans, scientific plans, scientific cards, catalogues, passports, etc. In addition, Kamyanka State Historical and Cultural Reserve publishes the popular science almanac “Kamyanka”, which publishes scientific and popular scientific and research articles of the Reserve’s empmoyees, scripts of literary and musical compositions, etc.
