Literary and Musical Compositions

Literary and musical evenings have a special place in scientific and educational work of the Reserve’s museums. Because Obviously, it is expedient to use a combination of poetry and music within one museum, due to genius poet Pushkin and genius composer Tchaikovsky, who visited Kamyanka during long years. The literary and musical evenings, which are very well known now both among Kamyanka inhabitants and among our town guests, have appeared. The researchers of our museum compile the scripts for them, and they read them themselves. These evenings are not artistic performances in the literary sence, which in this case would be inappropriate.
It is characteristic that musical accompaniment of the exhibition compositions is provided by the Kamyanka reserve’s employes. 5 graduates of music schools have formed the Chamber Ensemble, which is rightly considered one of the greatest artistic gems in the Historical and Cultural Reserve.

More than two dozen scripts have been created for literary and musical compositions: “The Feat of Selfless Love” (about the fate of the Decembrist, V. Davydov, owner of Kamyanka manor, and his wife O. Davydova), “5 Decembrists’ Wives in Kamyanka” (O. Davydova, M. Poggio, E. Likhareva, M. Volkonskaya, E. Orlova), “Remember Me Sometimes” (about P. Tchaikovsky and N. von Meck), “Defending Our Honour” (about the history of duel ritual in Europe and Pushkin’s last duel), “My Madonna” (about N. Goncharova, O. Pushkin’s wife), “If Love Someone in the World …” (about P. Tchaikovsky’s sister – O. Davydova), “P. Tchaikovsky and the Davidovs’ Family”, “ Pushkin and Shevchenko”, “ Addressees of Tchaikovsky’s music”, “In Memory of the Heroes of Maidan”,“ Poet for Many Epochs ”(about the life and work of Lina Kostenko),“ He Was Shevchenko in Music ”(Mykola Lysenko),“ Atamans of Kholodny Yar”, and many others.
The Chamber Ensemble of Kamyanka Reserve has a rich repertoire, which provides musical accompaniment to these compositions, being their integral and harmonious part. There are more than 100 works of Ukrainian, Russian, and foreign classics (Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Rachmaninoff, Dargomyzhsky, Mozart, Albion, Dvorzhak, Strauss, Sviridov …). In each of these tour groups, the visitors can order a certain literary and musical composition to listen in order to feel the magical aura of a combination of poetry and live music. Such an event will definitely be etched in your memory during your visit to Kamyanka.
