Museum of O. S. Pushkin and P.I. Tchaikovsky

One of the oldest monuments in Kamyanka is the Green House. It was built in the early nineteenth century for the owners of the town – the Davydovs’ Family. In Pushkin’s time, in the first half of the 19th century, this wing was used for relaxation and recreation. The house preserves the memory of the times when the Decembrists gathered here for their secret meetings. Pushkin’s voice often was heard here as well. Petro Tchaikovsky acquired a taste for the peace and quiet at the Green House, so that during 28 years he came to Kamyanka to visit his sister Olexandra Davydova.

In February 1937, to the 100th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin’s death, the soviet government’s resolution to establish the poet’s museum in the Green House was issued. Subsequently, a major overhaul was made, so that the first exhibition was opened. In 1940, when celebrating the 100-th anniversary of Petro Tchaikovsky, the composer’s section was added to the Museum. After that, this section of the Museum was named as Alexander Pushkin’s and Petro Tchaikovsky’s Museum.

There are no analogues of the Kamyanka Museum, which unites two world geniuses. This is its uniqueness and originality.
